Inspiration - Why Stones?

Stones have a predominant role in the Bible, specifically with David. In fact, this scripture helped inspire the creation of Journey Stones

David selected five smooth stones (1 Samuel 17:40), during the famous account of David and Goliath. Before facing the Philistine giant, David went to a brook and chose five smooth stones, placing them in his shepherd's pouch. Armed with these stones, his sling, and his unwavering faith in God, David approached Goliath.

The selection of five stones has sparked much discussion and symbolism. Some interpret it as a practical choice, ensuring he had extra ammunition in case he missed. Others see deeper spiritual meaning, suggesting the stones represent faith, courage, preparation, or even the grace of God. Interestingly, some biblical scholars point out that Goliath had four brothers, as mentioned in 2 Samuel 21:15-22, which could explain why David prepared five stones.

Ultimately, David only needed one stone to defeat Goliath, demonstrating that his true strength came from his faith in God rather than his weaponry.
